James, my boy, I'm so sorry this is coming so late after your birthday. What can I say? You've kept me VERY busy! You are always on the go, always finding something new, and always keeping us on our toes. I love your smile, but I also love your serious face, which we get more and more these days. You have made everyone in this family so happy.
We spent your 3rd birthday at Gammie and Gampy's house in Redmond, WA. You got a yummy breakfast, as usual, and then opened your presents:
After Church we came home to get ready for your birthday dinner of ham (your favorite!) and dessert (ice cream, of course!). You were VERY happy to have so much attention!
After dessert you opened your gift from Aunt Patty and Uncle Jay (who had come over for the festivities):
Overall I think you really enjoyed your birthday as well as our fun trip.
James, you are a great little brother and son. You are eager to learn and don't like being left behind, especially when your sisters are in their room and want to play by themselves. You still climb into your sister's bed (Becky) during the night, despite our attempts to thwart you! you are a determined little boy who REALLY loves his sister!
You were so eager to start preschool that you decided to learn to use the potty. For the most part you were the easiest, but we still have troubles with a couple of points. :) It'll come in time. You're still very young.
You still hate to drop off the kids at school and "count down" the hours until it's time to pick them up. You enjoy all the attention you get no matter where you go: at school from your siblings' friends, at the park where you show off your sports skills, at church, etc. So many people are impressed at how well you throw a ball, catch a ball, hit the ball (either golf or baseball), and how devoted you are to the Dodgers and "Joe's team" (Bellflower HS football). Whenever someone says, "Go Angels!" you're quick to say, "NO! Dodgers!"
Your personality is fun and challenging at the same time. You recently started saying, "It's (someone's) fault!" as well as, "I'm mad at (someone)." I love how you're expressing yourself, though you sometimes have no idea what you're saying.
You've had more ear/throat infections than anyone else in the family combined! Last summer you had your tonsils/adenoids removed and you were fine for a couple of months but have slipped right back into the infectious routine. We're hoping this year is the year to solve these problems! :)
James, you are always going to be special for me because you are the baby of the family. It is YOU who will give us our lasts: bottles, binkies, diapers, pull-ups, preschool, kindergarten, etc. I love watching you grow and yet I want it all to stop. Promise to stay my baby forever? Okay? Deal!
We love you, James Tyler. More than you'll ever know.
